After nine months (or perhaps much more) of nesting and dreaming, it’s finally time to bring your baby home. This series is all about creating a safe and cozy nest for your little one. In part one, we talked about designing your dream nursery. Now, we’ll talk about snuggling up with your newborn during their first days at home.

Staying snug and safe
Newborns sleep about 14-17 hours per day, and sometimes up to 20. So, in addition to diapers and feeding, your earliest days will revolve around keeping them snug for all that snoozing. And if you can’t stop gazing at their adorable little face with awe and love, that’s completely natural. Many parents want to keep their babies by their sides at every moment, and that’s where bassinets come in handy.
Smaller and more portable than a crib, bassinets help parents keep their newborns secure and close by while they sleep. In addition, because they can be placed right next to your bed, bassinets make middle-of-the-night feedings more convenient. They’re also in line with the American Academy of Pediatrics safe sleep guidelines, which recommend that you keep your baby in the same room where you sleep for at least the first six months.
We love the Stokke® Sleepi™ Mini because its cozy oval shape creates a nest-like environment that helps your baby feel secure. Plus, the lockable swivel wheels make it easy to move with you from room to room. As a bonus, they can also be used to gently rock your baby to sleep. At only 26 inches wide, it has a small footprint that’s perfect for small or large rooms alike. The rails and perforated mattress bottom promote air circulation for safe and sound sleep. It’s a dream for parents who want to keep their babies close to encourage bonding and connection.
Best of all, the Sleepi™ Mini converts into a full-sized crib with an additional crib conversion kit and can continue to grow with your baby up to age ten. We also love that you can style it with sweet accessories like a gorgeous organic cotton canopy.
