This structure might look unfamiliar, but it shows an important part of early development of an embryo. The shape of the figure shows the beginnings of cell differentiation and major body systems. The series of small, round nodes will form the spinal column, and the larger, divided sphere at the top will become the two hemispheres of the brain.
