Here’s the deal with diaper rash

The dreaded diaper rash. It’s very common but also very preventable with the right tips and tools.

Diaper rash causes

One of the most common culprits when it comes to diaper rash is moisture. When moisture is trapped against baby’s sensitive skin, it can cause irritation which can then lead to a rash. Other causes include a poorly fitting diaper causing chafing and leftover or hidden messes. All those cute creases and rolls can sometimes result in an uncomfortable situation for your little one.

What to look for

If your baby is showing signs of discomfort during diaper changes or at bath time, be on the lookout for patches of pink or red skin that might be a little bumpy. Check along their waist and legs where their diaper sits, around your baby’s genitals, and in-between their butt cheeks. Be sure the room you’re in is well-lit to catch early signs of a developing rash.

Treating a rash

The best treatment for diaper rash is to keep the skin dry. That may mean more frequent diaper changes and also using over-the-counter ointments to soothe angry skin and create a protective layer to keep the rash from worsening. Diaper rash typically clears up in a couple of days. If your baby develops a fever, or the rash worsens after you’ve started treating it, check in with your healthcare provider.

Prevention is key

The right diaper can make all the difference when it comes to preventing diaper rash. Hypoallergenic and dermatologically approved, Pampers Swaddlers helps protect against the 4 main causes of diaper rash:

  • Keeps skin 3x drier
  • Helps reduce friction
  • pH balancing
  • Pulls mess away

Not only that, but Pampers Swaddlers are up to 100% leak proof and up to 0% skin irritation. It’s no wonder why Pampers is the #1 pediatrician recommended brand.
