Timing your measurements
During your first weeks as a new mom, it’s normal to experience a lot of fluctuations in your cup and band size. Your bra may feel tight even on the largest setting of the hook and eye rows on the band. After about 4-6 weeks, however, once your body has recovered and your milk supply has regulated, you should be able to tighten your band and maintain a consistently comfy fit. You’ll want to choose a bra that will provide the best fit at 6 weeks and beyond, but that doesn’t mean you have to wait if you’re still within those early weeks. Simple Wishes offers a Fit Quiz that will walk you through the process of calculating your measurements, no matter how long it’s been since you gave birth. Plus you can save 20% on their mom-loved line of nursing and pumping bras with code Ovia20.

How to measure
You’ll need to make three measurements to calculate your bra size. First, measure around the top of your breasts, just under your armpits. Take a second measurement over the fullest part of your breasts, then also measure around your ribcage, just beneath your breasts. To calculate your band size, add the first and third measurements, divide by two, then round up to the nearest number. To figure out your cup size, subtract your band size from the second measurement you took. Every inch difference equates to one cup size (1 inch = A, 2 inches = B, etc.). Pretty handy, huh? If you don’t have a measuring tape, Simple Wishes will send you one for free. All you have to do is complete their helpful Fit Quiz to take advantage of the offer.

Choosing the right type of bra
Once you know your size and you’re ready to purchase a bra, the sheer number of choices can feel totally overwhelming. Not to worry—there are two main categories that you really need to know. A nursing bra allows you to unclasp the breast cup from your bra strap, exposing your breast so you can easily nurse your baby, while a pumping bra enables you to attach your breast pump so you can pump hands-free. Choosing which is best for you will depend upon your unique needs. But what about a bra with the flexibility to do both? The Foundation All-In-One Nursing And Pumping Bra from Simple Wishes is a cozy t-shirt bra that you can wear all day long, through breastfeeding, pumping, or even both at the same time. It’s one bra that truly does it all—just like moms.

Standout features for your comfiest fit
Now that you have the basics down you’re ready for extra credit. To really nail the comfiest fit, there are a few standout features you should look for. First, there’s the material. You’ll want something that’s soft against your skin and has a four-way stretch, to accommodate your changing cup size. Also, look for certified non-toxic materials, so you can be sure it’s safe for you and your baby. A bra with convertible straps will provide the most flexibility for everyday use, giving you the choice between tank style or racerback. Simple Wishes’ Foundation All-In-One Nursing And Pumping Bra includes all these features along with a unique halter strap that you can wear for extra support while pumping and full drop-away cups for maximum skin-to-skin contact while nursing.
