What can a nurse care manager do for me?

Even with the best medical care and relationship with your healthcare provider, serious and ongoing health problems can be overwhelming. Through your health plan coverage, you have the chance to work with a care manager who can provide support during your maternity care.

Your care manager can be a major source of support through the many months of pregnancy.

What is a care manager?

Care managers are registered nurses who can help with everything from helping you understand a diagnosis given by your health care provider to educating you on lifestyle options and self-care skills for managing that condition. Care managers can help with education about a condition, preparation for doctor’s appointments, and helping you stick to the treatment plan established by your health care provider.

Care managers can also offer support for these conditions and more:

  • Gestational Diabetes
  • Gestational Hypertension
  • Multiple Pregnancy
  • Placenta Previa
  • Preeclampsia
  • Short Cervix
